Four teachers from our school participated in the first international seminar on theory and practice of teaching in the whole of China hosted by South China Normal University

        From November 23rd to 25th , 2018, the college of Foreign Languages and Cultures from South China Normal University and the South China Normal University All-English Course Teaching Research Center held the first international seminar on the theory and practice of EMI (English Medium Instruction) in China.


The theme of the conference is “British Teaching: Teacher Competence and Student Needs”. It mainly discusses the policy and curriculum planning of the whole UK curriculum teaching, classroom teaching characteristics, teaching discourse analysis, test evaluation, subject teacher professional development, and education information technology integration and other issues. The conference included eight keynote reports, 40 group forum presentations and a pre-conference workshop. Representatives from the conference included 26 universities from the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, etc., as well as the International Business School, the College of Education, the School of Software, and the School of Energy. There are about 150 experts and teachers in the colleges, tourism management colleges, and history colleges. Participants' subjects cover 18 fields including linguistics, earth sciences, biology, agronomy, computer science, management, and education. Four teachers including Zhu Hanping, Shi Lingling, Wu Yan and Jia Yushan, who are teaching bilingual and English courses, participated in the international seminar. At the conference, our teachers and participating experts fully communicated and exchanged on the international and domestic situation analysis of the whole English curriculum, the ability components of the British teachers, and the teaching methods of the whole English teaching.


The content of this conference is cutting-edge and forward-looking, and has certain guiding significance for practice. It has produced good influences at the international, domestic and provincial levels, promoting internationalization of education, building an international academic exchange platform, and promoting foreign language and culture. The discipline construction of the college has gradually enhanced the college's positive role in domestic competitiveness and international influence.
