The International Conference on “Development and Poverty: China and World Experiences”, jointly organized by the Institute of Public Policy of South China University of Technology and UNESCO, was held at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou, from August 19 to 20, 2017.
Professor Haiwei JIA was invited as a special guest to discuss with the public management scholars from five continents, Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Latin America, to discuss poverty management and targeted poverty alleviation, to discuss the comprehensive development of the country, society and people, to discuss about poverty and relative poverty, material poverty and spiritual poverty.
The conference was chaired by Professor Yongnian ZHENG, and Professor Yifu LIN was invited to deliver a keynote speech which entitled “Enlightenment of China’s Development Miracle to Developing Countries”, Prof. Hans d’Orville, the General Director of the Strategic Planning Bureau of UNESCO, Professor Mehri Madarshahi, the foreign affairs commissioner of United Nations Secretary, delivered keynote speeches. After that, scholars from various countries introduced their own experiences of poverty reduction. The discussions in the conference were very enthusiastic and formed a lot of academic views and experiences that are worthy to learning in China’s Poverty Governance.
