In order to implement the Ministry of Education's promotion of cross-border exchanges and cooperation in higher education in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and to implement the development goals of the school's “Double First-Class” initiative construction support discipline, one of the designated universities of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education approved by the School International Exchange Office —— Department of Social and Behavioral Science, City University of Hong Kong, jointly organized The 2nd International Conference on Outreach Work (OSW 2019) “Drug Abuse, Hidden Youth & Signature Programmes.”
Being invited by Professor Lu Tierong, Dean of the Department and the chairman of the preparatory committee of the conference, Professor Zhang Yu, Dean of the School of Public Administration, Associate Professor Liao Huiqing, Director of the MSW Education Center, and Associate Professor Zhong Xiangyang, the Department of Social Work, who specializes in youth drug abuse and hidden youth, and Dr. Wu Yan, the foreign secretary of the College, participated in the OSW2019 which was held in Hong Kong from June 11 to 13, 2019.
The conference invited scholars from Canada, Singapore, Japan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and representatives of some social work organizations. In the context of the developed Internet society, the rapid development of science and technology, and the prevalence of online media, whether the existing method of active service with the community is still feasible is uncertain. Theoretical discussions and experience sharing are carried out.
Professor Zhang Yu participated in the unveiling ceremony of the meeting. The delegation participated in the discussion of the theme of the conference and introduced the social work discipline of the college as the development status of the characteristic superior disciplines in Guangdong Province and the results of research and teaching and foreign exchanges and cooperation in recent years. In collaboration with the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences of the City University of Hong Kong, in the future, the two sides will conduct in-depth exchanges and negotiations on topics such as teaching and research, teacher-student exchange and joint implementation of curriculum construction and personnel training.
